2007
  • State employees donate more than $3 million to meet social service needs. On April 19, 2007 the Civil Service Commission was proud to receive recognition for exceptional participation in the 2006 State and University Employees Combined Appeal (SECA). The SECA campaign is a once-a-year fundraising drive that allows state and university employees to contribute to participating charities through either payroll deductions or a one-time donation. The Commission was also awarded the Governor’s Cup for the highest percentage of participation (100%) for smaller agencies.

  • Effective at the end of business on March 15, 2007 George E. Richards concluded over 11 years of commendable service to the Civil Service Commission. He was Chairman of the Commission from November 7, 1995 through March 15, 2004.

  • Effective March 16, 2007 Ares G. Dalianis was appointed as a member of the Civil Service Commission by Governor Rod Blagojevich to a term expiring March 1, 2013.
2005
  • On March 7, 2005 Chris Kolker was reappointed as Chairman of the Civil Service Commission by Governor Rod Blagojevich. His reappointment was confirmed by the Senate on April 21, 2005. His term expires on March 1, 2011.
2004
  • On March 16, 2004 Chris Kolker was appointed as Chairman of the Civil Service Commission. His appointment was confirmed by the Senate on April 2, 2004. His current term expires on March 1, 2005.
  • On May 20, 2004 Daniel Stralka was appointed as the Executive Secretary for the Civil Service Commission. (The Executive Secretary is the equivalent of the Executive Director.) He had been serving in this position in an acting capacity since June, 2003.
  • On March 1, 2004 Andrew Barris joined the Commission as the Assistant Executive Director. He previously worked as a Legal Advisor in the Securities Department of the Illinois Secretary of State.
